Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Walt Disney 1988 Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which is based on Gary K. Wolf's 1981 mystery novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit?, is a delightful send-up of the hard-boiled Sam Spade films popular in the 1930s and 1940s. This esteemed film broke many technical barriers in its blending of both ink-and-paint cartoon characters and flesh-and-blood actors in its onscreen cast. Roger Rabbit was a hit with audiences and critics alike. The film did very well at the box office and went on to receive four Academy Awards, including a Special Achievement Award for Animation Direction. Animation art from this film is a must for any fan or collector!
