Lady and The Tramp, Walt Disney 1955 Lady and The Tramp, which was released in 1955, was the the first Disney animated feature filmed in CinemaScope, the new pan-view screen format which necessitated extra work in planning scenes and more action to fill the entire screen. Lady and The Tramp was inspired by the a short story Happy Dan, The Whistling Dog by Ward Greene; Walt Disney bought the rights to the story after reading it in Cosmopolitan magazine in the mid-1940's. Lady and The Tramp is considered to be one of the best dog movies ever made and was named number 95 out of the "100 Greatest Love Stories of All Time" by the American Film Institute in their A Hundred Years...A Hundred Passions special. Lady and the Tramp is also famous for it's songs, many of which were co-written and preformed by songstress Peggy Lee. |
